WARN: Load Balancing service URL is not configured

Follow

Eucalyptus Versions:  3.3 - Current

Problem

When sourcing eucarc from a credentials bundle the following error is returned to stdout:

[root@odc-d-36 ~]# source admin-creds/eucarc
WARN: Load Balancing service URL is not configured.

Resolution

Ensure that the Load Balancing Service is in the enabled state.  Consult the documentation if you need to configure it [1].  Once verified, re-download your credentials and source the new eucarc:

# euca-get-credentials -e / -a eucalyptus -u admin euca-admin.zip
# source eucarc

Cause

This happens when the eucarc which is sourced has been generated before the Load Balancing service was enabled.  The eucarc contains no knowledge of the endpoint for the service and thus your eucarc will contain the following line:

echo WARN: Load Balancing service URL is not configured. >&2

When it should be defined:

export AWS_ELB_URL=http://192.168.1.1:8773/services/LoadBalancing
